Session 5, Island Art Camp Adventure, Clay Portrait Busts (Ages 10-15)

An art experience you won't want to miss! Spend five fun-filled days making art in an artist's studio on Guemes Island. Take a 7 minute adult chaperoned ferry ride on the Guemes ferry and a short walk to an artist’s studio. Explore a variety of mediums in an inspiring, creative atmosphere. Class time is spent not only in the studio, but outdoors on the nearby beach. Classes are small and geared towards each individuals skill level. Each one week session is M-F, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.  Town students take the 9:15am ferry.

Cost: $295 each week long session, which includes all art materials and round trip chaperoned ferry transportation. There are changes in the age groups this year. Session 1 and 2 for ages 6-9, Session 3 and 4 for ages 10-15. Session 5 focuses on clay portraiture, and is open to ages 10-16.

Session 5: July 29-August 2- Story -Telling with Clay Portraits (Ages 10-16)

Session 5 is an all clay session focusing on portraiture. Sue will demonstrate building a 3/4 life size portrait bust out of clay using slab and coil techniques. She will guide students in creating a clay portrait using gesture and facial expression to tell a story through their own personal experiences and/or imagination.
Arms, hands, clothing and other finishing details may be added to the bust. Finished portraits will be fired two weeks after Session 5 ends.
